Koko Crater Railway Trail

Koko Crater was our second hike here on Oahu and it was amazing!
I honestly credit this trail for planting a deep love of hiking in me.
It was pretty tough and definitely rough on the knees, but so worth it.

There's a million old railway ties you have to climb up to reach the top.
Okay - not really a million... 1,100 to be exact.

At first you may want to die,
but then you get to the top ...

The views are SPECTACULAR!

There's even a cool Prayer Box

Yeah ... I am not that brave!

Our First Anniversary

Our first anniversary was very memorable and so sweet! Year one is "paper" so I sent David on a scavenger hunt all around our hotel. He was such a good sport about it.

..... and really happy when he finished!

365 days of marriage! I can't believe it went by so fast!

We had a great lunch at Tiki's Bar & Grill in Waikiki and our server was so nice! Once he found out it was our anniversary, he surprised us with this!

For dinner, we splurged and went to Tanaka of Tokyo where we had coconut shrimp and fillet! It was SO delicious!

They also have a photographer there who comes around and he snapped this picture of us which I absolutely love!

We got the "photo and cake package" and this was our cake. No cake will ever beat my grandma's but this was DARN good! We had such a GREAT first anniversary and being in Hawaii it was almost like an "anniversary-moon"!

Hawaii Bucket List

David and I arrived on Oahu very late at night after a long day of travel. In fact, our first "Hawaiian" meal was KFC! I was so out of it that I didn't even realize we had a room with an ocean view. When I woke up the next morning my first thought was "I can't believe I really live here!" and my second was "There is so much I want to do!"

How it Began

David and I have a very unique love story - it will keep you on your toes that's for sure! It began in the fall of 2010 at the University of Michigan-Flint in an Anatomy & Physiology lab. It was the first day of class and I was thankful one of my sorority sisters was in the class with me. I had no idea that she would one day be my best friend or that I was about to meet my future husband.

Lindsey and I in Mexico - 2012
.... then David walked in. I have a tendency to wear my emotions on my face so Lindsey helped me pick my jaw up off of the floor and then told me casually "That's David. I had a class with him last semester." I was already gone at that point. Much to my embarrassment, Lindsey tried dropping hints to David all semester that I was madly in love with him, but having since married him I can assure you that the only hints David picks up on are those equivalent to a bowling ball. Sure enough, the class ended without David ever realizing my love for him and we went our separate ways, but remained friendly.

David & I - about two years after we first met

It wasn't until David left for Basic Training and I sent him a birthday card while he was there that he realized I liked liked him. The stars aligned, we were both single at the same time, and we began officially dating shortly after he was sent to South Carolina to begin the nuclear pipeline.
